Rochdale Council are to consider a plan to colour snow to make it more representative of the cultural mix of the area.
The Rochdale Multi-Cultural Planning Group have put forward the idea because they are worried that the whiteness of snow may offend residents who are non-white. “It will also serve to brighten up what is, essentially, a rather drab Northern area…”, said councillor Muhammed Rahman.
The colouring of the snow, initially brown, yellow and black, will commence when the local Imam turns on the ‘Holiday Light’ for the start of the ‘Holiday Season’.
There is some opposition to the plan with Dick Whitehead of the Rochdale Britain First branch complaining that “…this is political correctness gone mad…” and vowing to oppose the plan by “…grabbing it by the pussy”.
