Cornwall is in crisis as studies show, for the first time in a generation, more middle-class old hippies are leaving than arriving.
One local, Anni Darsys, told us “The traditional ways of life and industries are under threat. It’s a whole way of life disappearing.
All the things that people instantly associate with Cornwall – foods like Quinoa & Kelp; the Tofu mines; Reiki – will soon be gone for good”.
Community leaders fear that the uncertainty of Brexit is to blame and that soon they will not be able to deliver basic services across the county – such as homeopathy, seaweed basket weaving and even basic levels of crystal therapy.
Anni was equally pessimistic. “The day will soon come” she told us “when you won’t be able to walk into an organic garden centre and buy hand crafted vegan dog chews!” she wept.
Tough times indeed….
