With Father’s Day fast approaching, supermarkets and stationary stores across the country are displaying cards and gifts for children to give to their father this Sunday. Burnley Lidl has raised a few eyebrows with its five card bundle offer.

One local in favour of the offer, mother of five Kellymay, 19, told The Rochdale Herald “It’s great, a trip to the supermarket and the card shop with my five is a nightmare, now I can just keep them locked in the car in Lidl carpark while I grab a handful of Rustlers burgers, some WKD and all my kids’ dads a card in one go. I’m saving time and money, Lidl is great value.”

“I just hope they’re going to do a six card bundle next year.”

When questioned over the reception of the offer, Lidl store manager, Derrick Gibbon, who wishes to remain unnamed told us.

“We have some great deals at Lidl in the centre aisle for Father’s Day this year. Our £5.99 home DNA testing kits are excellent value and will be available from Tuesday, we also have some nice scented candles. Don’t miss out, get them while they’re in stock, but we will be limiting them to three per customer.”

“The testing kits, not the candles.”
