Members of parliament have overwhelmingly voted to bring their summer break forward as a reward for having solved all of the UK’s problems.
The vote which ended with 52% in favour of the early break means that the politicians annual summer holiday will be brought forward a full week.
Environment Secretary Michael Gove was particularly keen to accept the pat on the back and make the most of the glorious British summer time “Well it’s two years since we’ve had to bother with all those silly EU Environmental laws and just over a year since I took my current position and, oh look record breaking temperatures, hose-pipe bans, constant sun , coincidence? I don’t think so. You’re welcome!”
Maidenhead resident Theresa May, who has close ties to several leading politicians, explained that the members of parliament thought it was the most economical move.
“It’s been a slow year in terms of big issues and the people in parliament are really trying to minimise spending so they figured they might as well go home early. It definitely has nothing to do with the current heatwave or the Parliamentary Air Conditioning being on the blink.”
However other members of Tory party were keen to play down accusations from the opposition that they had simply run out of ideas, Liam Fox added: “Typical Labour accusation, it’s them that have run out of ideas. We are not leaving parliament, we are re-joining the rest of the British Public, in the sun.”
