Thomas Cook, one of the world’s oldest travel providers has gone into liquidation, meaning thousands of job losses and over a hundred thousand holidays cancelled with British citizens already on holiday stranded.

Keith Entwistle of Norden contacted the Rochdale Herald via telephone and explained his fears about being trapped abroad at a family resort in Tunisia.

When asked whether anyone has been in contact with him regarding alternative flights, Mr Entwistle said.

“Nothing from Thomas Cook but Ryanair offered to ship us back. I’ve looked into it and while a dinghy ride to Sicilly from here is pretty treacherous there’s more legroom and I won’t be charged for my hand luggage. It works out cheaper and they’re more reliable.”

“I’ve spoken to one of the Looky Looky men trawling the beach and through him managed to secure a place on one of the dingies used to ferry in migrants and refugees. Sure there is a high risk of drowning, but at least we’ll leave on time.”
