Pro-Brexit MP’s have been rushing to congratulate Parliament on it’s demonstration of democracy and parliamentary sovereignty today.

A Government bill for Brexit was narrowly defeated following MP’s debating it and voting on it over several hours. Astonishingly, the debate and vote were conducted without the presence of the EU’s enforcement officers who have been present at every Parliamentary debate for the last 20 years. These officers normally enforce the EU’s will by taking MP’s families hostage.

One MP told us, “This is brilliant. This is just what we voted for. The supremacy of a British Parliament, debating laws without the interference of the EU’s goons. The defeat of the Government and a requirement for another vote to be held before the final agreement is made just shows that we have a truly independent Parliament.”

However, not everyone was happy. One Westminster resident told us, “This is a subversion of why I voted out. Obviously, if I genuinely thought Brexit was a good idea then I wouldn’t be so worried about another vote on it. I thought democracy required one vote on things and anyone who disagrees with the outcome would be made to shut up or be hung as a traitor. Why do we need more votes?”

And the British press have been getting in on the act too. “Hurrah for our MP’s” said The Daily Mail. “Finally, British law decided by British MP’s” said The Daily Express. “Gotcha” said The Sun.

By tea time tomorrow the Express intends to bring us news of what Diana thinks about it. The Rochdale Herald intends to contact Gracie Fields on the matter. We’ll report her views on Sunday.
