George Soros, the Hungarian-American Billionaire who famously broke the Bank of England on Black Wednesday in 1992, is said to be close to throwing his financial support behind Jeremy Corbyn and the Labour Party.
Soros, who netted a billion dollar profit on the currency exchanges when he short sold $10 billion worth of sterling during the 1992 currency crisis, is said to admire the left-wing firebrand for his democratic values, commitment and preparedness.
“This man Corbyn is an investor’s dream,” a spokesman for the billionaire philanthropist told The Rochdale Herald. “Look, he is even preparing for a run against the pound in the event of Labour being elected to govern Great Britain.
“Mr. Soros is a pretty shrewd man and he would not bet against Corbyn getting it right this time. Cross my heart and hope to die.”
