British boxing fans spent much of the night anticipating and then watching a bout between black fighter Deontay Wilder and half-Irish gypsy Tyson Fury.
Fight fan Dave Cooper, from Romford, said “I’m a bit confused to be honest. Obviously normally I’d be cheering on the white guy, but I mean, that Fury, he’s a gyppo, inne?”
“Goes without saying I wouldn’t want that Wilder moving into my street, I’ve got a wife and teenage daughter, innit? But I mean imagine if Fury moved in next door. He’d tarmac over everyone’s garden and there’d be caravans everywhere blocking out the light. And the hassle with all them big fat weddings, well you wouldn’t want that on your doorstep, would you?”
In the fight itself, one of the boxers won, apparently.
