You guys are amazing! As you may know we are running our second annual Secret Santa to buy gifts for children who otherwise wouldn’t be getting one this Christmas.
In the last week our readers and the readers of NewsThump, Southend News Network, U OK Hun, Private Eye, Angry People in Local Newspapers and Tuckered have bought more than 1,600 presents worth more than £15,200.
It’s amazing. But there are still hundreds of thousands of children around the UK who won’t get anything at all on Christmas Morning. Our solution is simple and last year bought more than 26,000 children gifts. We have created an Amazon gift-list populated with gifts for children of all ages to suit all budgets.
You buy a gift from the list and it is sent directly to the charities working with social and care workers supporting children and families in crisis to ensure your gift is in the hands of a child who might otherwise be having a really rubbish Christmas morning.
It’ll take you less than two minutes and we personally guarantee you’ll feel wonderful for having done it. Take a moment or two to scroll down the list, you won’t believe how generous people are, as satirists we’re generally certifiably cynical but it’s difficult to stay that way when you see that strangers are anonymously spending hundreds of pounds on guitars and keyboards for children they’ll never meet.
So if you can please take a moment or two to buy a packet of crayons for a couple of quid or if you can afford it a guitar for a kid who really could use a lift this Christmas.
You can find the gift-list here.
For the next few days we’re sending presents to Rochdale Borough Council’s Giving Back Christmas Toy Appeal.
Merry Christmas, and thank you for you support!
