Daniel Dawkins, a 45 year old unemployed plasterer from Manchester was shocked to discover actual genuine Chicken pieces in his local supermarket brand chicken and mushroom pie.
“At first I didn’t know what it was till I took a bite, it certainly tasted of chicken anyway” said Mr. Dawkins, completely mystified at the finding.
“It’s usually just pastry, loads of mushrooms and a greyish/brown gloop and doesn’t really taste of anything. This one actually had chicken in it and I must say it gave the pie a certain je ne sais quoi.”
A spokesperson for Northern Pies, whose advertising slogan is, ‘Just because you can’t see it don’t mean it’s not in it’, said that an investigation within the factory is taking place to discover how actual chicken pieces made its way into the pie. “We fully intend to get to the bottom of this. Not that I’m saying that we use chicken arses in our pies but….”
In the meantime all Northern Pies ‘Chicken in a Tin’ products have been recalled for fear they may also contain chicken.
Customers are instead asked to try the ‘Beef in a Tin’ pie which is guaranteed 100% beef free although may contain Northern Pies’ famous ‘beef substitute’.
The ingredients of which we’ll leave to your imagination.
