More tax scandal has hit the Premier League last night after police swooped on the Arsenal stadium after they tried to claim the VAT back on silver polish.
HMRC officials were alerted after after an eagle-eyed tax inspector noticed that Arsenal hadn’t won any trophies since Gary Glitter was considered an acceptable Children’s Entertainer.
Other items fraudulently claimed by Arsenal included;
A “Best Team in London” banner
A “Best Team in North London” banner
A “Best Team in Islington” banner
A “Champions League 2018” banner
However HMRC said they had no problems with the VAT claim for 63,000 “Wenger Out” T-shirts….
