There was a relief for a family on the wrong side of the Pennines this afternoon, as a man with a debilitating terminal illness was finally given the right to die after a court ruling.
Ged Branston-Pickle 64 of Holmfirth, contracted the rare condition, known as Glover’s Disease, which causes its victims to constantly ‘tell it like it is’ no matter how delicate the subject, in 2012, leading the family to take to the courts in protest.
Long suffering daughter Emily Branston-Pickle-Butty, 46 was emotional upon hearing the news, but also relieved to see her 6 year fight for justice for her father finally come to an end.
“It’s been an exhausting 6 years.” She sobbed. “Dad’s not been the same since he contracted Glover’s. Well, he’s actually been mildly less offensive, but recently, the severity has gotten so bad, he can’t even go on’t bus without a carer present to gaffa-tape his cakehole shut for fear of offending someone. His last words to me were ‘Christ, you’ve put on weight lass!’ before offering a Nurse outside because she were from Lancashire.”
“As sad as it is, it’s no way for someone to live, and the time is right to say goodbye”
The case also gives hope to an Essex family currently appealing for euthanasia for their father who is stuck in an endless loop of shouting ‘YOU MAAAAG!! YOU MEWLT!!!’, commonly known as Dyer’s Disease, after being triggered by an inept refereeing performance in a recent West Ham match.
