A group of dog walkers in West London found a way to foil what has become known locally as “bRexit” after a dog nearly wandered out of the park this morning.
Rex, an eleven month old Samoyed, had been pottering around the park with his brother Casper when he spotted a rather dishy looking Bichon who was walking near the gate out of the park.
“Rex doesn’t usually wander too far so we weren’t concerned at first” said Denise Dufite, a dog walker and friend of Rex’s owner. She continued “Just then, the lady who was walking Missy, the Bichon, took a right turn and left the park.
“Rex obviously rather fancied the fluffy little madam so he followed her.
“We were distraught. There were a group of us so we had a quick discussion about what we should do. 52% of the group decided that we should just let him leave with Missy as he has a special relationship with an American Cocker Spaniel and the Chow’s in the other park said they would be his friend if he did. They reminded us that he hadn’t always walked with our group and he’d been absolutely fine on his own before he joined us.
“However, the 48% of us that agreed it was a bad idea stuck to our guns. After all, he has so much fun with the other dogs and learns from them. They share their toys with him (except Daisy the Jack Russell who’s a bit of a bitch) and they always stick up for him if any other dogs bother him.”
Disaster was averted after the group, some of whom hail from Cyprus, Greece, France, Romania and Poland, got together in what could be described as a European union and managed to foil Rex in his attempt to make a bid for freedom.
“We couldn’t have done it alone” said Ms Dufite. “We were greater than the sum of our parts it has to be said.”
The 52% maintain that Rex would still have been better off on his own even though they had no idea how he’d feed himself.
