British geriatrics were claiming victory this afternoon in the long held ‘it was better in the old days’ debate against younger demographics.

Research released by the Resolution Foundation has shown that it was actually conceivable to purchase your own home, even while still in your 30’s, some decades ago.

The Rochdale Herald’s Baby Boomers Won correspondent spoke to a representative who has read the Resolution report to gain greater insight.

“Clearly today if you’re in your thirties you’re most likely to still be going around to your parents to do your washing and get a proper meal cooked.” Mr Donni Eyenoit commented. “Given that even if you do rent somewhere on your own you’re probably paying two thirds of your income to live in a cupboard.”

With the average cost of a house so many multiples over annual average income it’s likely that most people in Britain under thirty today will only even learn about home ownership in the form of family myths and legends.

“Your grandparents bought a home you know. But we sold it to pay for their care in the age of austerity.” Mr Eyenoit continued. “That sort of thing. You would have thought old people would stop banging on about it being better in the old days, most of them being young just after the world had been torn by global warfare and prior to the age of mass vaccinations, but the debate has raged.”

At least now it is settled and younger demographics can warm their hands around the blazing bins in their yards and hear about how there was this mythical time when everyone listened to new music, took a lot of drugs, had buckets of carefree sex and then voted for Margaret Thatcher repeatedly.
