Tim Farron has been left looking sheepish in his chair after Andrew Neil cancelled the Liberal Democrat leader’s interview just moments into the opening statement.

Neil interrupted Farron and said “Why should anyone listen to you? You’re party is irrelevant and is simply a place for disgruntled centre left and rights to go, since both Labour and Conservatives have gone more extreme. You look like a school boy on work placement and your policies are a bit wishy washy.”

Before Farron could answer, Neil stood up and whilst removing his microphone turned to the audience and said

“Bake off is on on a minute, go and make a brew while you wait.”
