Oscar winning director Jonathan Demme has died aged 73.
Filmmaker Jonathan Demme, whose Oscar-winning thriller “The Silence of the Lambs” terrified audiences and introduced one of the most indelible villains in movie history, has died following complications from osophageal cancer and heart disease, according to a statement from his publicist.
Demme is survived by two wives and three children. In a statement on behalf of his family they have asked for privacy at this difficult time but have confirmed that, out of respect for his most famous work, his first wife will be eating his liver with some fava beans and a nice Chianti.
