McDonald’s is suing Florence over claims that the historic city is “promoting a healthy diet & lifestyle contrary to Western values”.

The fast-food giant has acted after complaints against “pasta, fresh ingredients and outdoor living” were rejected by Florence’s mayor in June.

The decision was upheld in July by a technical panel in charge of preventing heart disease & preserving life expectancy in the city.

But McDonald’s, which had argued that reducing the salt content in water-reclaimed “beef patties” constituted “health food for children” has now launched a bid for damages.

The chain is claiming it has been discriminated against, and wants to recoup the €170bn it calculates it will lose if people “listen to this Mediterranean Lifestyle crap and that jerk-off Spurlock”

But Florence’s mayor Dario Nardella told the Rochdale Herald: “McDonald’s has the right to poison its own population under the so-call “Trumps Law” but frankly we don’t want their tasteless American pre-digested pap!”

This is the second high profile International spat this year for McDonalds. Last month it was reported that they were suing Eastenders over “Pie & Mash” whilst the “fast food fatwa” on Jamie Oliver remains in place.
