It was revealed today that a Blairite peer, a hedge fund manager, several rich business types and a Liberal Democrat Lord were behind the organisation within Labour called ‘Labour Tomorrow.’
The group’s mission is to steer the Labour party to a more centre right position and it seeks to encourage supporters to join the Labour Party and to lobby for policy changes.
Tom Watson seems strangely unperturbed by this entryism.
“Well, that’s totally different to a handful of penniless Trots,” a friend of Tom told us, “because Trots have a different opinion to us and we can’t use it to smear Jeremy!”
We asked a Sun “journalist” if there was any chance they might cover this story as they’d been quite keen to bang on about Tom Watson’s reds under the bed last week. They said: “Listen if we reported on this we’d have to point out that Progress, the Blairite group and several other centrist organisations are much bigger than any far left movements inside the Labour Party and certainly more powerful. That’s not going to scare anybody! Now, if you know of some random bloke who once bought a copy of Socialist Worker or went to a Billy Bragg concert in a Levellers tee shirt we might be able to pin something up.”
In response Owen Smith reportedly said something obvious to make himself sound vaguely left and Mr Corbyn started talking about nationalising shopping trolleys or something.
