The Green Cross Code Man has been killed in Rochdale in a terribly ironic tragedy involving a silent Ocado electric delivery van and a mobile phone.
David Prowse MBE was apparently reading a fascinating article on The Rochdale Herald website whilst walking home from the shops when he stopped, looked, listened and then thoughtlessly stepped under the wheels of a silent electric delivery van.
A spokesman for the family of the former Star Wars actor and road safety advocate told The Rochdale Herald;
“We hope the incredibly ironic circumstances of the death of The Green Cross Code Man will serve as a stark warning to people that absolutely anybody can get run over at any time. It’s particularly important that people stop looking at pointless crap on Facebook on their mobile phones while trying to cross the road because you will get run over.”
Theresa May called for an immediate amendment to The Green Cross Code in the wake of the tragedy which now reads;
“Stop, look, stop looking at Facebook, look, now look again for silent electric vehicles, make sure your phone is in your pocket, look again, cross while looking both ways the whole fucking time because Teslas are sneaky.”
Parliament has called for a national day of mourning and a state funeral.
