A Rochdale couple have told the Herald that their son’s release from jail in America is the best present they could have hoped for.
Percy Cuted was jailed in 2011 after wishing some Americans “Merry Christmas” at a branch of Red Lobster in Bumshart Mississippi, on Christmas Eve 2010.
His father told us, “It’s the land of the free but it turns out that wishing people “Merry Christmas” was actually outlawed in 2008 by Barack Obama. By law you could only wish people” Happy Holidays.” Our son didn’t know this at the time. He was sentenced to three consecutive life sentences as a result.”
Percy’s freedom is expected to be announced by a judge this week. Percy is expected to be home soon after. The release comes after Donald Trump signalled an end to christian persecution by wishing people a “Merry Christmas” on Twitter.
It’s not just Percy who could be released. It’s hoped that the Massachusetts six could be released in early February following appeal. They were jailed for life in 2009 after wishing people a happy St Patrick’s day.
In a phone call Percy told us, “I’ve been in a supermax with some of the biggest criminals in America. Where St Stephen was stoned to death I was locked up with a bunch of Mexican drug lords. I’m lucky to be alive.”
“I’ve learned a lot from my experience though. I can fashion a shank from a toothbrush and I’ve learned all sorts of transferable skills from running my own prison gang. I didn’t know how to do any of this before.”
It’s understood that the decriminalisation of saying, “Merry Christmas” could, pave the way to an investigation into the Christmas, Florida massacre in 2010. It’s alleged that Barack Obama personally ordered the destruction of the town and it’s inhabitants. This has been denied persistently by the Obamas though.
