Embattled Prime Minister Theresa May has been thrown an unexpected life line today. A surprise call from Tony Blair offering her the plum role of Middle East Peace Envoy.

Ms May is said to be seriously considering the new position as all the signs point to the necessity for her to get out of dodge soon.

While May is confident that when people see the “real May” she will experience a bounce in approval ratings, she is always experiencing a nagging feeling that her work here is done.

An aide for Mr Blair’s foundation “Feel the Blair” spoke of the reasoning behind the offer.

“Tony understands Ms May. He knows what it’s like to go from being idolised to misunderstood. He has walked in her shoes. Literally. At a private Downing Street function he found the kitten heels and tried them on.”

It’s believed Blair calculates Ms May’s qualities of leadership and compassion for “the people” position her nicely to carry on and build on his own efforts to bring stability and certainty to the world’s most troubled region.

But the offer is limited with Johnson, Gove and Hunt also in consideration for the legacy building work.

“Tony thinks Ms May lacks a little foresight. He admits that. He saw the trouble coming well in advance when he was PM, threw the ball to Gordon and ran. But there’s still time for Ms May to grab her passport and get going to a land far, far away.”

The job of Middle East Peace Envoy offers a greater chance of success than currently being British Prime Minister as the policy decisions of both the New Labour and the Caring Conservative administrations come to fulfilment.

“She will find it comfortable.” The aide added. “She will need to go amongst the people still but she will be in an armoured personal carrier.”
