Plumber, John Thomason of Norden was caught doing 42 on Edenfield Road, which has a limit of 40 on that stretch. He has been fined £1200 under the new driving penalties rules.
“My transit van is 20 years old, I’m not sure the spedometer is all that accurate and I was only going 2mph over the limit. 1200 quid is ridiculous; the little Bastards who robbed my tool kit out the van last month weren’t even fined that much!” Said John.
“I don’t have that amount spare, I’ve not been able to work since my tools were pinched. If I don’t pay it in 4 weeks they’ll triple it. Looks like I’ll have to get on the phone to that dodgy vet my mate told me about and see how much my Kidneys are worth.”
