An argument over the name of a baked bread product that is traditionally cut in twain and filled with goodness like chips, bacon or sausage has been raging accross British counties since the dawn of time, or 2014 when someone posted a picture of one over layed with the words “What’s this called where you’re from? LOL”.

Well, finally we know and the argument has been put to rest for good.

Rochdale born rhyming baking historian, Jon Flour, has been researching in this field for decades and he assures us that the muffin as we know it was created in Rochdale in the world’s first Co-Op.

He left us with this statement;

“It’s not barm or a barmcake nor roll or stottie.

Not a teacake, a scuffler, a batch or a roti.

And don’t get me started on bread-cakes and nudgers

It’s a muffin plain and simply you big stupid fuckers.”
