A couple thrilled by the safe arrival of their second baby have no idea of its intentions yet.
Nic and Cassie Novella already have a three year old daughter called Allopecia. They have been ‘managing her expectations’ and are now expecting an easy transition to a larger family.
“It’s not like we don’t know what we’re doing.” Nic mused. “And I’ve basically bought Allopecia anything she wants for the last six months so she knows she’s really loved.”
“I’ve been preparing her too.” Cassie adds. “I’ve told her she will have to sleep in her big girl’s bed now that her baby brother is here.”
“I’m used to sleep deprivation by now.” Nic added.
“And even though I’ve only recently been able to leave the house for five minutes without Cassie phoning to ask for something, it’s not like I won’t be able to go fishing with my mate Dave ever again.”
“Sure I’m knackered now. But I’ve just given birth.” Cassie continued. “Okay both our parents live hours away in separate directions. Yes, I can’t walk properly and I don’t even want to try.
It’s true that if Nic so much as looks at me with a twinkle in his eye anytime in the next year I’ll probably stab him in the balls with a fork, but I really don’t see what’s going to be so hard? I’m sure Nic will stop going ‘for one’ with his mates after work now we have a second baby. Unlike when Allopecia arrived.”
As to the new arrival’s thoughts on the matter it is hard to say. We’re sure he will do everything he can to fit into the household routine.
“First order of business is to find a name.” Nic said chirpily. “I want Warfarin, after my dad, but Cassie isn’t convinced.”
“I hope the little blighter doesn’t shred my nipples attempting to breastfeed.” Cassandra commented.
Good luck you too. Not that you’ll need it.
