Team GB have seen a few medal opportunities slip through their fingers in the first few days of the Pyeongchang Winter Olympics but have no fear, we’re still in with a chance.

As training facilities for the winter sports are few and far between in the UK, Team GB have persuaded the International Olympic Committee to include a few typically British winter sports at this year’s games in South Korea.

Steve Dickinson of Rochdale is favourite for a medal in the men’s “Putting another jumper on rather than turning the heating up” this evening while Mildred MaLarkey of Washington, Tyne-and-Wear will take centre stage in the “Slipping over on your arse whilst carrying the shopping home” tomorrow.

With 11 medals in total won by Team GB at Winter Olympics over the last 30 years, The Rochdale Herald wishes Steve, Mildred and the rest of the athletes all the best but, to be honest, we’re not expecting much.
