Today an area four times the size of London has broken away from the Antarctic landmass. It is a worrying example of rising sea temperatures causing the parts of the Antarctic land mass to break apart.

The huge breakaway spells disaster for much of the animal wildlife trapped on the enormous ice mass. Greenpeace spokesman Kit Treugger said,

“This is without a doubt the most significant break off from the arctic I’ve ever seen. Efforts are underway to attempt to rescue some of the wildlife trapped on the iceberg.”

Opposition to these efforts are being voiced however, surprisingly it is the animal wildlife inhabiting the enormous iceberg that are protesting against interference.

The PM (Polar Minister), an Emperor Penguin named Freezer May, made the following statement,

“We Emperor Penguins, Seals and Orca had a referendum last winter and the result was a narrow vote in favour of leaving the Antartic circle.”

According to the Polar Minister, 52% of the habitat’s natural wildlife voted in favour of the break.

“It is true that many Migratory birds and Krill voted no in the referendum, but this is a democracy. Antarctical 50 has been signed, we have officially broken away from the South Polar Union.”

Fears of being blocked from migration are a real concern with many of the bird species. A spokesman for the remain campaign said,

“Free movement of migrating birds adds to the rich natural environement of the Antarctic. Blocking migration will cause untold ruin to the ecosystem. Also, many smaller breeds are trapped here with a bunch of Seals and Penguins; they run the show and they have no concern for the rest of us as long as they are take care of.

There is no plan or strategy for leaving the Antarctic circle, it will ruin us all eventually, hitting the smaller species first!”

In response Polar Minister Freezer May said,

“The referendum shows that the natural wildlife does not wish to be connected to the South Polar Union we are determined to grasp our sovereignty with both fins.

Trade opportunities with the Falklands are accessible. Global warming may cause our newly independent land mass to decrease through melting, but we will have our sovereignty of our own Iceberg.”

“Antarctical 50 has been signed, Bergxit means Bergxit”
