It’s shaping up to be another great year for Strictly Come Dancing as yet another political star is confirmed on the line up to strut his stuff on the hallowed boards when the show returns in September.

“I am scared but a little bit excited about joining the show, but it promises to be a real adventure. I’ve never really done any dancing, except to The Prodigy in Sunderland, so learning how to do a tango and a foxtrot will be a real challenge.” Corbyn told The Herald earlier today.

Asked whether he would like to get the general election out of the way before confirming whether or not he will appear on the show he told us;

“Well that was decided ages ago. It’s a done deal really, I’m completely certain my diary is going to be clear by September. I’m really looking forward to getting my dancing shoes on.”

Jeremy follows in the steps of other former political heavyweights such as Ed Balls, Vince Cable, Ann Widdecombe and Edwina Currie though he is the first to sign on for  the show two months before a general election.

Even though Corbyn has previously denied having any ambitions to appear on the show it wouldn’t be the first time a politician performed a heel turn.
